{"id":3699,"date":"2026-06-21T08:58:34","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T08:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scripture.amos.ip-ddns.com\/?p=3699"},"modified":"2026-06-21T08:58:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T08:58:34","slug":"genesis1715-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scripture.amos.ip-ddns.com\/?p=3699","title":{"rendered":"Genesis17:15-17"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Genesis 17:15-17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abram\u2019s name was changed to Abraham, and at the same time God also changed Sarai to Sarah. It is especially meaningful for a person to have his name changed, because a name represents who you are. When a name is changed, it indicates that a person\u2019s inner being has been transformed and is different from what he previously was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sarah meant princess or noblewoman. It symbolized that Sarah would play an important role in the plan of God Elohim. Indeed, God told Abraham that Sarah would be a mother of nations, and kings of peoples would come from her. In the historical record, Sarah became an ancestor of the Jewish people and of Jesus Christ. However, when God mentioned that Sarah would give Abraham a son, she was ninety years old at that time \u2014 she was indeed far too old to bear a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why did God give such a promise when both Abraham and Sarah had almost no ability to conceive? It is because our minds find it too difficult to reject what our own natural strength can offer. We are indeed controlled by our fallen nature and trust only in our own natural ability. Therefore, God waited until the time when Abraham and Sarah had lost their natural capability. Even though Abraham fell upon his face, he still laughed, because this was beyond the recognition of anything in his daily experience. His reaction was understandable for a person who lived life under the judgment of God.
