Scripture does not summarize this event with a single word; instead, it describes the timing, the people involved, and the process. This narrative style shows that the event served as firm evidence of the covenant God established with Abraham. It also indicates that this was a significant moment\u2014one that marked a new era. In fact, it set humanity on a path toward redemption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silence is a severe and painful discipline for a person who has made a mistake. Based on the ages of Abraham and Ishmael and the previous continuous narrative, it is clear that God spoke nothing to Abraham for thirteen years until he was ninety\u2011nine. Such a long silence was a torment, especially for someone who followed and believed in God. It was like a car suddenly losing its navigation. This is an important lesson for anyone who follows God: do not give up when you have not yet received a word from Him. When you make a mistake, you must endure its consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From another perspective, Abraham\u2019s age shows that his natural strength had come to an end. Anything new that would come from him must come from another source\u2014God Elohim, not human flesh. In other words, the end of our flesh is the beginning of God\u2019s work. We should keep our faith in God and set aside our weaknesses and natural human power. Therefore, a circumcision of our flesh is necessary.
