Genesis 1:4
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
I had read this verse many times before, but this time it surprised me. We have known about light for only about one hundred years through modern scientific research. Even today, however, we still know very little about darkness. For example, in a black hole, nothing can escape from it. As for dark matter, it makes up approximately 27% of the entire universe, yet we still understand very little about it.
So when you hear that God divided the light from the darkness, do you feel a sense of wonder? As far as we know, neither matter nor energy can escape from a black hole. Yet in this verse, God did it. I believe this verse did not originate from human understanding, because humanity did not have sufficient knowledge of light and darkness. How could such a concept have been expressed? It is truly amazing that light can be divided from darkness.
There are many verses in the Bible that speak about darkness. For example, Exodus 10:21 says:
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.”
The darkness over the land of Egypt is very striking. Is it related to dark matter, or is it similar to Vantablack? Perhaps one day someone will discover the answer. Because some verses in the Bible go beyond our current understanding, we often think of them as myths. However, if we continue seeking God, we will realize how small we are in the vast universe.
