Genesis 4:3-4
And in process of time it came to pass , that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD .
And Abel , he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof . And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering :
Since Eve felt emptiness, all of her other family members might have felt the same. Facing the absence of God Elohim, the two brothers responded to Him in different ways. Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord God. He did it on his own, without asking his parents. In some way, Adam and Eve had already told them the gospel from God Elohim. Hence, Cain was the first man who invented a religion to worship God Elohim. He thought his own effort could satisfy God Elohim, but he forgot the basic rule that sin is cleansed by blood.
Abel brought the firstlings of his flock and their fat portions. Therefore, God Elohim regarded Abel and his offerings, because these offerings satisfied God and aligned with His requirement of righteousness.
As for Cain, he only cared for himself and brought something he had toiled for mainly for his own living. He regarded himself as first and most important. In contrast, Abel kept sheep mainly for God Elohim and His gospel. Abel placed himself behind God Elohim because he cared for God Elohim’s needs first and then his own. At that time, humans did not eat meat and only took fruit from the ground as food.
If a man puts himself at the center, he is heading toward failure. A man should put God Elohim first and seek His kingdom and righteousness. Do not worry about your living!
