Genesis 4:25-26

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Seth (שת) was the third son of Adam and his wife, which meant “compensation” in Hebrew. Eve said that God Elohim had appointed her another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Therefore, Eve understood that what she had gained was not the promised one, though she had called his name Cain. Meanwhile, it also reflected that Eve gradually gained understanding of what God had said to her and Adam. Humanity’s understanding of the gospel of God Elohim was difficult because their own concepts were too hardened to receive new information after eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. After Adam and Eve lost one son, they began to know themselves better.

Enos (אנוש) was the son of Seth, which meant “man.” It indicated that humanity understood they were mortal and must die because of eating from the tree. When they found the real problem, they began to call upon the name of the Lord. Compared with Methushael, who was the father of Lamech and whose name queried who belonged to God—as if challenging God—Enos expressed that they knew their mistakes and turned to God.

It was obvious whether a man belonged to God. They had different psychological patterns and different cognitions. Thanks be to the one true God who kept another line of humanity!
