Genesis6_5-7

Genesis 6:5-7

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Since the heart of humanity was filled with only evil continually, Jehovah God repented that He had made man on the earth. If you made a vessel to fill with clean water, but it was filled with dirty water, you would repent having made it. The soul was the core of human beings, and thought was almost the core of the soul. It indicated that humanity was ultimately corrupt and deformed. God Elohim created heaven and earth for His creations, not for wickedness. Satan did various works to grab human beings and make them his slaves, and the ground was covered by darkness.

Since the attribute of righteousness was His, He had to destroy the wickedness of man. However, His attribute of love led Him to feel repentance. Hence, God declared that He would destroy man, beast, the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air.

God is the mighty one — why did He repent of what He had made, and did He not know what would happen? In fact, God does not need to predict everything. Whatever happens is under His realm but beyond humans’. The repentance came from His mercy, and it showed that God is a loving God. We should cleanse our minds and focus on the things of heaven and of God, and rid ourselves of evil thoughts. However, this event in which God destroys wickedness will happen again in the future, but this time, God will use fire, not flood.
