Genesis 7:10-13
And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
In the original arrangement, God created the heavens for the earth, and the earth for humanity. They worked together to serve humanity. But now, everything was reversed, and they were arranged to destroy human beings. The fountains of the great deep broke up, and the windows of heaven were opened; therefore, floodwaters came upon the earth. Hence, humanity was the center of all creatures. If human beings fell, the surroundings changed their functions and became harmful to other creatures. Meanwhile, God had to allow heaven and earth to execute His will. According to the basic physical laws, only an outer force coming from the highest level could break the ground structure and control the heavens to close or open.
Since the universe was upheld and borne by God Elohim, it was stable and steady. Hence, God arranged everything according to His timing. After seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth, and the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. This indicated that God had measured the extent of the disaster to remove all creatures.
The eight members of Noah’s family entered the ark through the salvation of God Elohim. It was significant that human beings were the center of all creatures. Whether humanity is righteous or wicked determines the fate of other beings on the earth.
