Genesis 8:22

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

After smelling the sweet savor, God Elohim gave Noah—as well as all human beings—a promise that He would no longer smite every living thing. At the same time, God Elohim also established a sign that, as long as the earth remained, this natural order would not cease. The items listed—seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night—were chosen to represent the entire natural system. In other words, God Elohim would not destroy all creatures at once through an immense natural disaster.

Therefore, this was an important promise for all humanity, because it also became a limitation for God Elohim. He would protect human beings from massive natural disasters that come from the earth or from outer space. That is why many natural disasters have been limited to a certain extent. For example, the Tunguska explosion was controlled by an unknown power.

On the other hand, these items mainly describe the functions of the earth. Through these functions, human beings can use the earth for their livelihood. Praise God Elohim for His mercy in sustaining human beings until now.

Furthermore, the earth will pass away after the Millennial Kingdom, and the new earth will replace the old one according to the book of Revelation. We should prepare ourselves and turn to God Elohim.
