Genesis9_5-6

Genesis 9:5-6

And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.

Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

After the floodwaters, God Elohim authorized human beings to govern and manage themselves. Hence, every authority and power comes from God Elohim. It entered a new era of humanity’s self-governing period. Meanwhile, God Elohim set a limitation on human lives. Whoever or whatever beast kills a man, God will require that life. In other words, God avenges those who are killed by other creatures without righteous cause.

That is why we should do good, not evil. Because God is the highest judge to maintain righteousness among human beings. Why does God do this for human beings? Because human beings are created in the image of God and they represent God; furthermore, humanity is the kindred of God Elohim.

Therefore, do not shed the blood of other people, because God will arrange every circumstance and condition to shed the blood of the one who does so in return. Do not envy evil people, because they live for only a short time on the earth. Due to their sinful actions and evil killing, God will remove them quickly.

What God Elohim said here became the basic rules and principles for human society. God let humanity rule over themselves, but He also set up limitations for human beings to maintain the sanctity of life.

So fear God, and in so doing you will respect other people made in the image of God.
