Genesis 9:26

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

In the Bible, the firstborn son normally receives a double portion from his parents. Noah not only declared the inheritance of his sons but also prophesied their future destinies. Shem, the first son of Noah, may have learned more from his father and feared God as his ancestors did. In other words, Noah could sense that God was with Shem. That is why he declared, “the LORD God of Shem.”

As human history developed, Shem became the ancestor of Abraham and the Jewish people. God chose a Hebrew person from the descendants of Shem to be His representative on the earth. Almost everything related to God’s revelation is connected to the offspring of Shem. Therefore, Noah was wise in understanding the future direction of humanity. What he declared became a foundational pattern for human development.

Meanwhile, Canaan would become the servant of Shem. In reality, those who strive to gain the whole world often end up serving those who fear God. Throughout history, many people like Canaan spent their lives pursuing wealth, reputation, and material abundance to satisfy their desires. Yet what they accumulated was ultimately transferred to people like Shem.

Only the servants of God Elohim truly govern the world—not the Canaans.
