Genesis 12:17-20

And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.

And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?

Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her , and go thy way.

And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

There were no details about how God plagued Pharaoh and his house. Nevertheless, it was unusual to Pharaoh and he realized something was special. Hence, he gave back Abram’s wife as soon as possible. What God did prevented Pharaoh from taking Sarai and kept the holy relationship of spouse.

Pharaoh said to Abram clearly about the reason why he and his house were suffering plagues. And he requested that Abram take his wife and go away because of the relationship of wife, not sister. It should have been the true God who gave revelation to Pharaoh. It would have been easy to destroy Pharaoh because of what he did. However, God is righteous, and God did not kill him because Pharaoh did not know the truth and Abram had lied to him.

God was merciful to all people, even to Pharaoh who was against God Elohim. From what Abram experienced in Egypt, we know God protected His people secretly, though they acted on their own, not asking Him. Meanwhile, God let His people receive more abundant wealth than they had after experiencing that.

Finally, Pharaoh sent Abram away along with his wife and all that he had. Even though Abram used his own intelligence to deal with his problem, God drew him back to the right way on which God had called him to walk.
