Genesis2_16-17

Genesis 2:16–17

And Jehovah Elohim commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat;

but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt surely die.

From these two verses, Adam could eat from every tree, including the tree of life. However, only the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would certainly bring death to the one who ate from it. We can also confidently assume that God is the greatest in the universe. From our perspective, when we make something for our own purpose, we control every condition to ensure that it happens. But God gives His creations choices and free will to make their own decisions, without force or deception. Greatness is one of the most important attributes of God. Therefore, we should not blame God for what happens to us or claim that our actions are caused by Him. The more you know about God Elohim, the more you understand your fate and the sufferings in your life.

Death is, in a strict sense, separation from God. When a man dies, his body stops functioning and exchanging matter with the physical environment. On the other hand, after eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, time entered into humanity and began to govern the physical body. That is why God emphasized “in the day.” God Himself is not limited by time and extends His power to those who walk with Him, such as Enoch (Genesis 5:24).

In other words, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil represents the origin of death.
