Genesis 4:5-7
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Since Cain tried to establish his own righteousness to satisfy God Elohim, he offered his sacrifice, but God did not respect it. Therefore, Cain became angry and his countenance fell. Cain placed himself in a high position and rejected the way that God Elohim had taught his parents. According to his reaction to God Elohim’s rejection, it was clear that Sin acted as his inner man, controlling his thoughts and emotions. Before God Elohim, the highest One in the universe, Cain even dared to be angry.
When a man is angry, his facial expression reveals it to others. Sin in a person has an obvious characteristic: it causes one to lose emotional self‑control and to express wrath toward anyone around him, while his intelligence becomes almost zero, even like a fool.
Although God Elohim pointed out what was wrong with Cain, he still did not repent or calm himself. Meanwhile, God Elohim told him that sin lay at the door and desired him. If he did not do well, sin would rule over him. But Cain did not perceive the main point of God Elohim. Therefore, it showed that Cain and sin had been united as one for a long time. Because God Elohim spoke to him and led him toward the right way, yet he had no awareness of it.
Thus, a fallen man always thinks he acts according to his own will and in a righteous way, but in fact he is being led by sin. Sin continually looks for an opportunity to rule over a person and devour him.
We should control our emotions and refuse the allure of the sin that lives within us.
