Genesis 6:14-17
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of : The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou
make it.
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
God Elohim gave Noah detailed instructions for building the ark and the materials required. From Adam to Noah, there had been almost no natural disasters, so the ark was something entirely new to Noah. The use of gopher wood and pitch indicated that it was a professional construction, designed to prevent water from penetrating and causing decay. The size of the ark was large enough to carry various families of living creatures. Its structure also showed that the coming flood would be immense. This was a detailed blueprint for building the ark, and it served the purpose of saving Noah and the other creatures. Therefore, the construction of the ark was both necessary and effective for the future.
Because of humanity’s fallen nature, destruction was unavoidable. However, the righteousness of God required judgment, and His attribute of love moved Him to provide salvation for His people. God taught Noah how to build the ark to preserve their lives, and the ark fulfilled its purpose. At the same time, God also indicated that He would save all His people in the future through the “ark” He Himself would provide. His “ark” would function just as Noah’s did. In the New Testament, this “ark” is Jesus Christ. Indeed, He will save all who repent when the second destruction comes.
Therefore, God Elohim declared again that He would destroy all flesh under the heavens in which there is the breath of life: everything on the earth would perish. The time is approaching; do not miss the second “ark,” as the people in Noah’s day did.
